Lovely. How I miss them! We had zero this summer, apart from the large white ones that are a pest to our cabbage plants, when we used to have an abundance only last summer. This has been such a weird experience, a garden full of butterfly-friendly flowers like the buddleia in your pictures, and not a single butterfly. I wonder should I panic?
I'm the opposite to Sabine - masses and masses of butterflies, especially Peacocks, where last year there were hardly any on basically the same plants. Lovely photographs!
Sabine: I'm told that the population size can vary from year to year according to the locality. Here we have dozens of them. In my garden it's mainly the Small Tortoishell in the photo but also a few camera-shy Cabbage Whites.
